Bearded dragons need to maintain good digestion and stay healthy by eating and pooping regularly. However, there are multiple reasons why your bearded friend has not pooped for some time.

There are numerous ways that you can use to combat your bearded friend by not pooping.

 

How often do bearded dragons’ poop?

The number of times that your bearded friend should poop depends on multiple factors such as age, how much food they have eaten, or if she is suffering from any conditions.

However, when your bearded friend is healthy, it should poop every 1 to 4 days or at least a week. On most occasions, your bearded dragon will poop after a bath.

A baby beardie poops more than their adult counterparts. A healthy baby bearded dragon can poop 2 to 4 times a day.

This is due to the fact that when young, beardies should eat more feeder insects hence frequent pooping.

 

Why Won’t My Bearded Dragon Poop?

Your bearded dragon may not be pooping because of some of the following reasons: 

They are not eating enough food.

Dehydration

A lot of salad in their diet

Low activity levels

Low temperatures in their cage.

Bearded dragons are deserts lizards, and they are used to high temperatures in their natural habitat. Low temperatures in their cage will not allow your bearded friend to have a healthy gut and digest food and therefore lead to it not pooping.

When it is impacted or constipated, this can be due to loose substrate, random objects, or larger feeder insects.

What to do if my bearded dragon won’t poop?

It would be best if you start by making sure that your beardies enclosure is optimal by reviewing the cages setups such as lighting, heating, and humidity.

If you suspect ingestion, you should remove any loose substrate in the enclosure.

Check on your bearded dragon’s diet.

Ensure that the insects vs. salad schedule is correct. Additionally, check on the quantity and the sizes of greens and bugs that you are feeding your beardie.

Check on your beardie’s latest changes, especially activity levels and eating habits.

It is normal if your bearded friend is not pooping during brumation.

You should soak your bearded dragon once every 10 to 14 days if it eats a little to help in the pooping process.

Check on your beardies tank size. If the tank is small, your beardie may be stressed, which may lead to poop issues.

If your beardie is not pooping due to dehydration, try using a small dispenser when serving water to mimic the moving water that they tend to drink in their natural habitat.

You should introduce new accessories or increase playing times with your beardie to help it move around move if you suspect low activity levels.

Bathe your beardie for around 15 minutes and offer about 3 drops of mineral or vegetable oil such as olive or sunflower to help with pooping.
